This special, hour-long documentary was released on the tenth anniversary of Felix Baumgartner’s 2012 record-breaking, sound barrier bursting, mega-jump from the Stratosphere.
Red Bull Stratos proved that a human could break the speed of sound in freefall, with Felix Baumgartner setting numerous benchmarks including three official World Records: Maximum Vertical Speed (1,357.6kmh, 843.6mph/Mach 1.25), Highest Exit (jump) Altitude (38,969.4m, 127.852.4ft) and Vertical Distance of Freefall (36,402.6m, 119,431.1ft. The successful Red Bull Stratos mission also broke all records for live streaming – records that still stand today – and were a turning point in a global, online shift of broadcasting.
The brand-new film combines revealing new interviews shot across Europe and America, spectacular, new, aerial-stunt sequences, and never-before-seen imagery and archive from the stratospheric mission itself – presented in UHD for the very first time. The result is a deeply immersive documentary that takes the viewer from the edge of their seat to the edge of space.
The documentary was released via Red Bull’s TV app, Discovery plus, presented live on the home page of YouTube.com, and broadcast around in dozens of countries and networks around the world.
